About:
Empowering San Diego’s Most Vulnerable Youth for a Brighter Future
About Us
Positive Movement Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing underserved, at-risk children and youth in San Diego County with the resources, mentorship, and emotional support needed to succeed. By creating strategic partnerships with schools, we provide essential tools and life skills to empower students as they grow.
Our Reach
Since 2022, we’ve been partnering with schools across San Diego County, beginning with Bell Middle School. Today, we proudly support eight schools, including Bell Middle, Knox Middle, Lemon Grove Academy Middle, Willow Elementary, Central Elementary, Chollas Mead Elementary, Sherman Elementary, and Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS). Many of these schools have high populations of socioeconomically disadvantaged students, students experiencing homelessness, foster youth, English learners, and students with disabilities. To maximize impact, we commit to partnerships of at least two years, fostering sustainable, positive change. For schools unable to receive long-term support, we offer targeted, one-time aid based on specific needs.
Our Programs For Students
● Fun Fridays: Monthly events with music, dance contests, and prizes, where students are recognized and rewarded. Local sports teams like SD Wave and SD Gulls join, engaging kids in athletic activities.
● Saturday School Classes: Free classes introducing students to unique activities such as mindfulness, CPR certification, yoga, art, and more.
● Wellness Wednesdays & Therapy Tuesdays: Bi-weekly therapy dog visits help ease stress, particularly for students with special needs or behavioral challenges.
● Incentive Trips & Prizes: We reward students for achieving academic metrics like GPA, attendance, or participation through field trips and other incentives.
● Positivity Gardens: We fund school gardens where students learn to plant, grow, and care for food, fostering hands-on learning and life skills.
For Staff
● Staff Appreciation Lunches: Monthly catered lunches foster community and morale among staff, who play a crucial role in student success.
● Staff Appreciation Events: Monthly programs such as CPR training, sound baths, acupuncture, and meditation allow staff to recharge.
● Team-Building Outings: Local outings strengthen staff bonds and provide a welcome break.
● Staff Member of the Month: Each month, two staff members chosen by peers are recognized with gift cards. For Schools
● $10,000+ Semester Wishlist: Each school submits a wishlist for student-centered needs—anything from classroom materials to club equipment—reviewed and approved by our team. Additional Support We work closely with school leadership to address unique needs, including holiday toy drives, turkey drives, and academic incentive programs. For example, we partner with Belmont Park to offer students a day at a theme park, often their first such experience. Our Goals
